The Thrompon of Phuentsholing Thromde is the elected mayor responsible for overseeing the administration and development of the Phuentsholing municipality, one of Bhutan’s key urban centers located along the southern border with India. The Thrompon leads the Thromde Council and works closely with local government officials and agencies to manage urban planning, infrastructure development, public services, and community welfare.
The Thrompon plays a vital role in implementing national policies at the municipal level while addressing local issues such as waste management, traffic regulation, housing, and economic development, ensuring sustainable and inclusive urban growth in Phuentsholing.

Executive Secretary
The Executive Secretary of Phuentsholing Thromde serves as the chief administrative officer, responsible for implementing municipal policies, coordinating departmental functions, and ensuring efficient service delivery within the Thromde. Appointed through the Royal Civil Service Commission, the Executive Secretary leads the Secretariat, which encompasses divisions such as Administration, Human Resources, Legal, Civil Registration, Planning & Policy, Education, ICT, and Health .
In addition to administrative duties, the Executive Secretary plays a pivotal role in disaster management. As Vice-Chair of the Thromde Disaster Management Sub-Committee, they are tasked with coordinating preparedness, response, and recovery efforts during emergencies. In the absence or resignation of the Thrompon (mayor), the Executive Secretary assumes the chairperson’s responsibilities, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making.
